One of the my lines for the Christmas program at our church talks about the expanding universe. Is this biblical truth?

Study of the known universe has shown us that the universe is indeed expanding. Recent discoveries by the Hubble telescope produced amazing ultra deep field photographs of the far edges of our universe and they amazed astronomers everywhere.  Here is a great picture showing the incredible size of our universe. It is a single picture taken from the Hubble orbiting our planet. Each speck is a galaxy of billions of stars and astronomers estimate that there are hundreds of billions of galaxies in the universe, One small patch of sky that appears empty to us on planet earth contains billions of galaxies with billions of stars in each.

The heavens declare God’s glory!

While evolutionists claim “there must be life out there somewhere” all the evidence tells us that the earth is a unique planet and the life exists only here on planet earth. This is known as the Anthropic Principle and you can read about it here.

So the universe is expanding, however that is not the result of the Big Bang as evolutionists want us to think. It is the result of God’s Word, the Messiah, speaking the universe into existence as recorded in the first book of the Bible. I personally believe that God planned our universe to expand in order to prevent galaxies from crashing into one another due to gravitational forces. While it is true that galaxies can and do crash into one another, the frequency of that is greatly reduced due to the way God set the universe in motion, forcing it to expand as it has been doing since He created it.

Morris studies geology, culture, and various creation theories to give a true picture of Earth history. Explodes popular misconceptions about the age of the earth by exposing the shaky reasoning behind radiometric dating; Morris's discussion of these fallacies alone is worth the price of the book. Includes a FREE POWERPOINT CD! Despite increasingly compelling arguments for biblical creation, many still doubt the Bible's clear timescale because, they think, it is impossible for light to have reached Earth in only a few thousands of years from stars that are millions of light-years away. One of the major stumbling blocks to the presentation of the Gospel in our culture today involves astronomy. For decades, public school students (and even seminary students!) have been taught that the world is far older than the Bible chronology suggests, even billions of years older. Some astronomers look at the stars and planets through a telescope. Author Danny Faulkner views them through a biblical perspective in this unique book. Written for the well-read layman from high school through adult, Universe by Design explores and explains the historical development of this science, including current ideas in the field. From a creationist standpoint, Faulkner also addresses common misconceptions, difficulties, and critiques about relativity and cosmology.
